CHAPEL
ST. VINCENT OLD PEOPLE'S HOME
Bolzano / 2014
Thousands of squared timbers in changing lengths cover the chapel’s and mortuary’s ceiling at the St. Vincent retirement home.
The ceiling is characterized by punctual, repeated deformation, varying in distinction. As it seems to be frozen in the middle of a wave of movement, it links the two rooms together.

CHAPEL

The liturgical elements are white and therefore contrast with the wooden ceiling and floor. In 1964, Maria Delago created the Stations of the Cross and altarpiece in ceramic. The art pieces found their new home in the redesigned chapel after the retirement home had relocated. The blue color shades of Delago’s pictures reappear in the liturgical objects made out of “Azul do Macaubas”, a quartzite mineral.

MORTUARY

The picture in the mortuary consisting of earth, sand, pigments, epoxy resin, glass fiber fabric, gold and bronze powder forms the meditative center of the room.
